Continual Professional Development

Continuous Professional Development

In the Sefton Early Years team, we believe in the importance of ‘Continuous Professional Development’ (CPD) and we offer bespoke professional development support to all our schools and settings. The support offer can vary depending on the type and needs of the setting. The Early Years Quality Team and Early Years SEND team work tirelessly to ensure ‘Education Excellence’ for all. We do this by:

  • Supporting our settings and schools through annual quality visits or targeted SEND support;
  • Offering a free ‘Early Years Health Check’ to schools in the Ofsted window or a ‘Teaching and Learning Audit’ to schools that are not in the Ofsted window;
  • Offering a bespoke package to schools that are requesting additional support;
  • Delivering staff training sessions to EY teams and deliver EY Leads training termly;
  • Offering a wide range of free CPD to support SEND in the EY;
  • Leading projects that support our children of today;
  • Working with other professionals and partners to ensure high quality CPD.

Sefton Education Services is the platform we use to communicate with our schools, settings and establishments, and to purchase services and training. The platform consists of a communication stream, training portal and resource page. The resource page has documents and links organised under specific topics to help support staff development and can be accessed here. Resources | Page | SLA Online (sla-online.co.uk)

For more information about our training programmes, please visit the Training portal and Resource Page at Training & Events | Sefton Education.

In order to purchase or book onto free training, your organisation/school will need an account. If you do not have an account, please register for one by completing the following steps:

  1. We recommend in the first instance that you obtain the necessary approval from relevant senior staff at your organisation such as Headteacher, Principal, Manager, Business Manager or CPD Leader/Manager.
  2. After authorisation is obtained, you can use the sign-up form to request a new account.
  3. Insert contact details of your school and a reason for requesting access to the training portal.
  4. You will then be sent information on how to access the portal.
