City of Flowers Digital Installation
Saturday 23rd September - Saturday 30th September, Crosby Library

“City of Flowers” is a digital installation by Lou Payot inviting the viewers to hold a holographic butterfly in the palm of their hand, which will be on display at Crosby Library from Saturday 23rd September – Saturday 30th September.

The work consists in 12 small wooden houses resembling bird or insect houses found in people's gardens, whose aim is usually to offer shelter and care for our local species. Each house in the installation hosts a delicate holographic video of a butterfly, and an invite for people to place their hands within and cup the reflection of the butterfly, a tangible yet absent image, giving them a sense of intimacy and fragility, as well as initiating a call for care and responsibility.
