Meet The Board

The Southport Town Deal Board, convened by Sefton Council, has been working to develop the investment plan and engage with local residents to ensure the benefits of the Fund reach everyone.

The Board comprises a range of industry leaders from both the public and private sectors, including some of the most prominent and successful businesses and key organisations in Southport.

As part of the raising awareness of the Town Investment Plan some Board members, including the Chair, introduced some of the main themes and Big Ideas. These videos are included below

Meet the Board

Stephen Watson

Stephen is Sefton Council’s Executive Director (Place) – his role at Sefton Council includes leadership of Economic Growth and Housing, Highways and Public Protection, and the Commercial Service. This includes leadership of exciting transformational programmes such as the Southport Town Deal and the future of Bootle Town Centre. His professional background is in corporate strategy, finance and investment, and mergers and acquisitions, having previously held executive roles and board roles in the public and private sectors in both the UK and Canada.

Agnes Ng

Agnes is the owner and Managing Director of Hotel Enterprises Limited traded as Dukes Folly Hotel in Southport. She is a member of Royal Institutes of Architects, a Fellow member of Hong Kong Institutes of Architects and has been an award winning hotelier.

Andrew Booth 

Andrew is the Chief Executive at Sefton Advocacy, which specialises in delivering support and advocacy to residents across the borough.

He is also the Chair of the Liverpool City Region Older Person's Forum and a Trustee of Age Concern Liverpool.

David Head

David is a Director at Andrew Cunningham Building Design Ltd and has played a key role in the masterplans for a mixed-use cultural quarter in Barking, East London and the Tianjin Central Fishing Port in China. In his spare time David is also the secretary of Southport Civic Society.

Damien Moore MP

Damien is the Member of Parliament for Southport and a former Councillor on Preston City Council.

Rob Fletcher

Rob was Chair of Fletcher’s solicitors, a national law firm, founded and based in Southport. Fletchers are a Top 100 UK Law Firm, specialising in serious life changing injury cases from across the country. Rob was born in Southport and attended Norwood Road Primary School and then King George V Grammar School, before graduating in 1975 from York University in Economics.

Ian Raikes

Ian is the CEO of Southport Learning Trust a family of schools including Birkdale High, Greenbank High, Kew Woods Primary, Maghull High and Stanley High School. Ian was the Headteacher of Greenbank High School, a high performing secondary school in Southport, for 9 years combining the role of CEO and Headteacher between 2017 and 2021. Ian sits on the national Headteacher Advisory Group of the Careers and Enterprise Company which strategically supports the Department for Education Careers Strategy and is a lead deliverer of NPQSL (National Professional Qualification for Senior Leaders) and NPQH (National Professional Qualification for Headteachers).

James Brayshaw

James is the CEO of AdaptiveComms Group, known ans being an expert in his field looking at Business Growth, Business investment, Commercial Property and telecommunication solutions.

Mark Basnett 

Mark is the Managing Director at Liverpool City Region Local Enterprise Partnership and Growth Platform. He is also the Non Executive Director on the MSIF Board and specialises in talent development and business growth. 

Marion Atkinson

Marion is a Sefton Council Councillor and Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Skills.

Michelle Brabner 

Michelle is Principal and Chief Executive of Southport College and KGV Sixth Form College. Before qualifying as a teacher in further education, Michelle’s career began in Liverpool working in medical research at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital. Michelle holds a Masters degree in Zoology and a BSc in Biological Sciences.

Peter Hampson 

Peter is the Chief Executive of the British Destinations Association, specialising in UK domestic and international inbound tourism. Peter is also well known for lobbying and working with Government, government departments and non-governmental agencies, industry groups and other trade bodies and association in support of UK destination-based tourism and visitor economy interests

Rob Anderson 

Rob is the Director and Co-founder of Southport based award winning firm RAL Architects. As well as working across the UK on a number of architecture projects, Rob is the former Director of the Southport Flower Show and Victoria Park Management Company for over 20 years.  

Dan Taylor

Dan Taylor is Partner and Director of Integration at Fletchers Group. An accountant by profession, Dan was trained at Deloitte and worked for a number of accountancy firms in Liverpool before joining the Finance department at Fletchers. He has been with Fletchers for 27 years, during which time he has gained a Masters Degree (Distinction) in Business Management and held Directorships in Finance, Technology, and Operations, before moving to his most recent position as Director of Integration in the Mergers and Acquisitions team, a key role following the Group’s acquisition by private equity firm Sun European Partners in 2021. Dan is also responsible for building and developing Fletchers AI infrastructure during his time as Director of Technology, and he remains an important figure driving the AI roadmap of the organisation.

Dan is also Chair of the Board of Southport Business Improvement District, a role he has held since relinquishing his Chief Treasurer role in 2022.

Sean Joughin

Sean is an Investment Analyst at Liverpool City Region Combined Authority working on place-based regeneration and innovation projects across the region. Prior to joining the CA, he worked in the housing sector.
