Sefton Local Authority are commited to inspire and motivate the Early Years Sector to ensure that teachers and practitioners are empowered to give their very best. 

With this in mind, we reguarly invite innovative and forward thinking educational experts to speak at various conferences. 

Mental Health Conference 

A conference took place in April 2023 with a focus on 'Making mental health and wellbeing for all a global priority'. Guest speaker, Kate Moxley was invited to talk about how we can improve the mental health and wellbeing of the early years workforce.

Prof Ferre Laevers Conference 

In February 2024 we welcomed Professor Ferre Laevers and Julia Moon to Sefton to talk about the success of his critically acclaimed Leuven Scales. Ferre promotes 'experiential education', which focuses on the perspective of the learner, and it is presently one of the most influential educational models in nursery and primary education today.

Interfering or Interacting Conference 

In February 2024 we held a conference with a focus on children's communication and language development. 

Dr Julie Fisher spoke about her recent book 'Interfering or Interacting' and shared extensive research and approaches to support high quality interactions in early years settings. 

We were also joined by Alice Sharp who delivered training about effective curriculums, and Jenny Holder who spoke about the Read to Bump and Read to Baby strategies. 

Future Conferences 

A SEND conference will be held in the Autumn term 2024. 

A Spring conference in 2025 will invite Greg Bottril to Sefton to talk about his Drawing Club initiative.
